Poker Hand of the Night

MP open raises to 3x BB, an amount that is begging for action at this table where the min open has been 4x to 5x and re-raises to 12-15x are common. It folds to me in the BB. I call with JhTh. A favorite blind hand.

Flop comes out KQX rainbow. I have OESD so I value check call a 3/4 pot bet. The 3/4 pot bet makes me think I am up against AA, KK, QQ. He is looking for a call. Turn come A and completes the rainbow. BINGO!

I do what?

Lead out?
Check call?
Check Raise?

Poker Time!!!!

I moved up. I am playing the $50 NL tables on FTP now. Why? Well I am rolled for it and those $25 game pots just don't do it for me anymore. I need something to make my heart thump. You know, like cracking KK with 82.

We'll see how that runs for a while. I maxed out the FTP reload bonus so I need to play more hands anyway to clear that bad boy. I cashed out of Party and moved all the roll to FTP. I have a bit on Stars still cause I love their SNG's the very very bestest.

My poker style has been varying with my mood latley. Not a good thing, but it hasn't been a bad thing either. I can spot the poker tracker wizards that play at me based on how I played against them the last time. Yep thats right, tonight I am re-raising preflop with suited connectors cause I feel all touchy-feely.

Overheard at Work Today

Women 1: (upon hearing that a coworker had a death in the family.) Ohh, thats too bad, now he's going to miss the meeting.
Women 2: Well you could schedule death, but they call that murder.

Damage

SO they found my car on Sunday. It needs a new column, new door lock, new windshield, new rear view mirror, new front subframe and an oil change. The offical diagnosis, ISYN, from the mechanic: "They must have went all Dukes of Hazzard in it." Meaning that they jumped something and bent the subframe. All that work still doesn't equal my deductable so its out of pocket. I took the photo above 10 or 14 days ago. Thats right I have a 1996 car with only 72,xxx miles on it. It used to be my Grandmas and she only drove it to the store.

3 Dumpers

Tenmile asked awhile back about the July 19th storm debris removal. I waited to report because I wanted to get the photos back. I am happy to say that a couple of Sundays ago the city crews were on our block and removed 3 dump truck loads. Not 3 dumpers from the street, or the block. 3 dumpers full out of our yard. This doesn't include the 2 yard waste dumpsters I filled with debris out of the backyard. The Sycamore tree we lost was about 70-80 years old. Yes that is my little boy standing next to the cross section of our former tree. The process was quite entertaining for the little one (okay, for Dad and Grandpa too). The crew worked their way down the street. There was one guy with an endloader who scooped everything up. The dump trucks waited to get filled in assembly line fashion. The guy driving the endloader should take up video games as a profession. He had a sweet touch. From our vantage point we could see right into the cab. Getting paid overtime to drive these dump trucks is a sweet gig. 90% of the time is spent parked waiting to get filled. I don't begrudge them a penny because I also know that they were working several weeks straight without a day off. Overtime only carries so much weight when you don't have power at home and your own trees are down in the yard. Besides that if they are like other city employees I know the shot in the paycheck from FEMA was needed.

We still need to get our porch repaired. The problem at this point is that there are so many big jobs due to the storm that a piddly job like ours has trouble getting someone out to take a look. Many thanks go out to my neighbors John and Bill that helped with the final bit of tree cutting and getting my chain saw unstuck out of the trunk of the tree. Paul Bunyan I am not.

STL WSOP ME FT on AM

Listen to how STL rocks poker.

Dan Nassif is the St. Louisan who made the final table at the main event of the World Series of Poker a couple of weeks ago, and earned over $1.5 million. This afternoon, I'll talk to him about the experience on my KMOX show (ESPN's coverage of the main event starts tomorrow night).

You can listen today between 2pm and 6pm on KMOX.com.

Just a note about the show. Paul Harris is a local STL radio personality/talk show host/poker player/rational guy. I enjoy his show and his blog is pretty good, mostly keeping us in tune with show topics and letting listeners rant. He used to write a series called "Just Plain Harris" that I don't think is actually retired, but comes way to infrequently these days. Anyway, in the current day political driven AM yell radio, Paul is a guy who gives you the facts and cuts the spin meisters off at the knees. He's also entertaining. Topics range from poker to knuckleheads to terrorism to John Karr.

Ebay Fun - Live Blogging my bids-

**************Update 2:06 PM*****************

Hey you fuckers, I'm not serious.

I breathed a sigh of relief that I didn't have to break off half my bankroll to get these guys to town and then the rest of it in booze and strippers.

Have fun with Al.

I should add that I smell Big Mike's hand in all of this.

***********Update 2:00 PM*********************
I return from lunch at the Cheesecake Factory to discover that some fat fucking hippy from the east coast outbid me. Cest la vie. My weakness for fish tacos and banana creme cheesecake cost me a bender. Fat is fat.

Well thats fine, but if I won I was going to request that the the Puncher and the Bracelet donate said travel funds to the For Peyton Charity or donate any frequent flier miles to a cancer charity or the make a wish foundation.

Al just made it so some little cancer kid can't go to Disney World.

***********Update 10:36 on Thursday AM************
apparently I over estimated the WPBT love for these two. I figured this would push over $1000 easy. I guess I am stuck hosting these 2 plus Joe Speaker (read the comments). Fuck. Someone call UNOS 'cause I'm going to need a new liver.
***************************************************

This is an auction that I'd like to win. So I spent this morning driving up the price for "vonguy" whoever the fuck that is. By bidding in hammer styled amounts I am responsible for donating money to charity. Sorry vonguy, but your auto bidding was pissing me off.

Besides, whats the worst thing that could happen? I withdraw a few hundy from the online bankroll and watch two pretty boys puke all over themselves. Then I drop them off in Centerville and hope they find their way to the ER for antibiotics and fluids. Only made better if we could coordinate a simultanous visit from Mr. Speaker. St. Louis's ozone problem might get out of control.

So I have now bid this thing up over $200. 12 bids and vonguy is still leading, but alas he is $50 bucks poorer. Take that biznatch. I can only hope you are from G-Vegas.

Still tilted I put in a few more bids but that emffer keeps coming. He's an ebay savant. I need to go talk to my backers to see if I can make this thing happen. I have a bad feeling that vonguy is in for north of $500. Damn you vonguy!!! DAMN YOU!!!!!!

Okay now I think we need a consortium to battle the devil spawn that is vonguy. I am looking for interested parties to bring the boys to STL. Any takers. I am in for $225 at least. Anyone want to add to my roll?

****UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11!!1***********************

Stick it in your ass vonguy.

Poker History

In watch the 1998 WSOP ME on ESPN (x) about a year ago I noticed that Daniel N. was in the crowd when Scotty won and went to the rail to celebrate. When watch a recap of said event during the current coverage of the WSOP Circuit event I noticed that Matusow was there as well. Its funny to think that they were all there, all knew each other 8 years ago, before poker was poker.

When it was still poker.

Seeing the interaction between Scotty, Daniel and Matusow then and seeing them interact now makes you think. How much of that last bet relates to this hand and how much of it relates to that last time he was in this position against this opponet that just happens to have been 10 years ago in a 50/100 game at Binion's.

History my friends, history.

Much like Tooloftheman raising Otis on the river. How did he know Otis was betting with air? History. How does Daniel make a call against Doyle that no one else would? He knows the true odds in the hand.
................

By the way, how do I screen cap off my DVR? I'd love to post a jpeg of Scotty, Mike and Daniel back in 1998. Daniel with hair, Scotty with 1998 bling and a skinny Mike.

You call, it's all over baby.

For the Ladies....

except Felicia. Felicia, avert your eyes as what you're about to read might send you into hysterics. My son, Little Chilly, spawn of me and Mrs. Chilly, is now 19 months old. I offer these as proof that I too was once adorable.

Sick and Tired

Good day,I am Wale Joseph Okafor a solicitor at law. I am the personal attorney to Engr.Thompson , a national of your country. On the 25th of December 2003, my client, his wife and their three children were involved in Plane clash in Cotonue.

Check out this website: www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/12/25/world/main590221.shtml.
Since then I have made several enquiries to your embassy to locate any of my clients extended relatives. After these several unsuccessful attempts, I decided to track his last name over the Internet, to locate any member of his family or someone bearing the same surname with him, hence I contacted you.

I have contacted you to assist in securing the money and property left behind by my client before they get confiscated or declared unserviceable by the bank where these huge deposits were lodged. Particularly, the finance company where the deceased had an account valued at about USD$8.4 million dollars has issued me a notice to provide the next of kin or have the account confiscated within the next Thirty (30) Working official working days. I guarantee that this will be executed under a legitimate arrangement that will protect you from any breach of the law. Await your reply if willing to assist.

YEMENI OKAFOR WALE

................
I reply:
................

Wally-

I find it strange that you mention the amount of money, but not the name/surname that led you to me. I would think that you would send me the names of my deceased relatives so that me and my family could mourn properly and contact the authorities about proper burial. You seem to only be interested in money, which I can tell you, when you have as much as I do, you never need worry.

Also why does your note say to contact you at yemeniassociates3@yahoo.com.ar,? But when I hit reply it is bar_wale@hotmail.com. That seems strange.

Also, do you know Emeka Okafor? He plays basketball and is very tall. Are you tall?

In conclusion:

Please forward the names of my deceased relatives along with and autographed photo of Emeka Okafor to idsn72-urafraud@yahoo.com.

Thanks.

My mouth probably just wrote a check that my ass can't cash but wtf it was fun.

Weekend Wrap Up

I made a foray back over to PokerStars this weekend. I played one SNG on Saturday and won. I guess all the good Stars players are busy. They guys were a split of LAGs and Rocks. Both easy to beat. I played hard at the Rock's blinds and soft played against the LAG's letting them bet for me.

For instance: One hand against a LAG I am in the BB with KK. He makes a 4x raise and I cold call. I value check the J high flop and let him bet out. I call again. Turn is a blank and moves in as the pot is now the same size as his stack. I call and have him dead to 5 outs. I never play KK like this, never. I was just sure that he was going to stack me with some crap stealing hand. He had JT.

Against a rock I would try to steal with anything, but would limp/min raise with big hands or giant killers (98s, 9Ts, JTs, TT, 99 etc). The rocks were easy. Out of position they would lead a flops that they hit and check ones they missed. I would C-bet when they checked and move in or fold when they bet, depending on the the relative strenght of my hand/draw.

That SNG nearly doubled by PStars bankroll

I am a poker genius.

.....................

Analysis of the WSOP field.

I did something similar to this last year. Where I used math to predict the number of PokerStars qualifiers that would make the fianl table.

Number of Entries: 8,773
Number of PokerStars Qualifiers: @1600 (please update if you have the actual number)
Pokerstars Qualifiers as a % of Field: 18%

8/7/2006
Remaining Field:45
Remaining PokerStars Qualifiers:9
Pokerstars Qualifiers as a % of Field: 20%

8/6/2006
Remaining Field:135
Remaining PokerStars Qualifiers:27
Pokerstars Qualifiers as a % of Field: 20%

So there should be 2 PokerStars guys at the final table, again.
